" Witch" is a term used to refer to humans who use witchcraft, though as time went on, these figures have become fictionalized into a mythological archetype. Old stories tend to portray them as cannibals, likely having to do with ghastly crimes real witches, actually innocent women, have been accused of in medieval times. Depending on who you ask, "Witch" is either a gender-neutral term, or a feminine one, with males being referred to as either "wizards" or "warlocks" (ex: Harry Potter).
Depictions in media
More modern portrayals tend to view them more favorably, not being wholly good or evil, with their alignments varying by individual. Witchcraft also being portrayed as either a learned skill or a hereditary feature.
Physical appearance
Witches, referred to as "hags" in old tales, were depicted as grotesque old women, though in more recent depictions, they look no different from normal humans.
